SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team traveled to Sewanee on Saturday, and suffered a 22-4 loss in its Southern Athletic Association opener.
The game was tied very early on with 12 minutes left in the first quarter when Richard Bedgood IV assisted by Max Brand brought the score up to a 1-1 tie. But, the first quarter came to an end with a score of of 10-1 with Oglethorpe trailing behind. The Stormy Petrels did not score again until the fourth quarter of the game. Jazz Washington successfully scored twice in a row, both unassisted, with nine minutes remaining and again with seven minutes left. Carson Van Note assisted by Israel Pendleton-Moore scored the final point of the game for Oglethorpe with six minutes remaining.
The final score for Oglethorpe this Saturday left the total wins of the season at five. This is the fifth loss of the season for the men's lacrosse team.
They will be playing a road game next against Rhodes College on March 25, followed by a game at Hendrix College on March 27. The next home game will start off the month of April on April 2Â against Centre College.
