Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Stormy Petrels overtaken by Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team took another blow after struggling to keep up against the Sewanee Tigers, ultimately falling 18-8.

Despite the loss, sophomore Kaitlynn Alford led the team with three goals. Goalie Asia Williams made 16 saves.

The Tigers ran away with the game early on, outscoring the Petrels in the first quarter 9-2. Oglethorpe's efforts in the second quarter were not enough to catch back up, as the game headed into halftime at 12-5.

The third and fourth quarters saw the Stormy Petrels only score two goals in each, as the Tigers continued to score. Even though sophomore Ally Moir was the last to score in the game, Sewanee ultimately defeated the Petrels 18-8.

Overall, the Petrels scooped 22 ground balls, matching Sewanee in that category, made seven successful clears, won 13 draw-controls, and forced 33 turnovers.

Oglethorpe will continue Southern Athletic Association play as they return home to face Centre College on Saturday, March 26, at 12 p.m.
