MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Oglethorpe baseball team traveled to Alabama looking to repeat an early-season win over Huntingdon but was outscored 6-1 over the last three innings and came up short 9-4.
Carson Weir had one of the biggest swings of the day, singling to right field with two strikes and two out to tie the game 3-3 in the sixth. It scored Carter Guarino and Harrison Hall, but the tie game would be short-lived, as Huntingdon scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh before hitting a three-run homer to ice the game in the eighth.
Weir was one of eight Stormy Petrels to register a hit in the game. Nick Tarantino led the way with a 2-for-4 effort.
Up next, Oglethorpe hits the road in a return to Southern Athletic Association play Saturday when the Stormy Petrels face Hendrix in a three-game set. The next home game is scheduled for the following Saturday-Sunday when they host Millsaps.
