Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Petrels send off regular season with successful senior day

ATLANTA - In the last regularly scheduled game of the season, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels dominated against the University of Dallas Crusaders, with a final score of 20-2 to celebrate senior day.

For the last scheduled game of the season, the women's lacrosse team took a moment to recognize their five graduating seniors. At halftime, Nyah Coulter, Taty Harris, Samanda Cox, Emilee Heffner, and Rachel Lester were all recognized and received mementos to cap off their final season with the Stormy Petrels.

Ten Petrels made their way into the scoring column, led by Harris with four goals, as Kaitlynn Alford and Sydney Trammell both made three. Junior Tricia Batchelor and Coulter scored their first goals of the season.

The Stormy Petrels scored ten goals, half of their overall score, in just the first quarter. Kendall White made the first goal of the game, and the Petrels scored two more before Dallas scored in the middle of the quarter. The second quarter saw the Petrels gain four more goals and prevent University of Dallas from scoring at all. Oglethorpe headed into halftime far out of the Crusaders' reach, at 14-1.

The third quarter saw Oglethorpe get three more unanswered goals, quickly moving into the fourth quarter. Dallas was able to make one more goal halfway through the final quarter, but Oglethorpe was too far ahead by then. The Stormy Petrels ended senior day with a 20-2 win, with the seniors combining for eight goals and five assists.

Overall, the Petrels scooped 44 ground balls, caused 19 turnovers, made 10 of 11 clear attempts, won 20 draw controls, and took 32 shots on goal.
