Stormy Petrels fall at Rhodes

MEMPHIS - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels took a hard fall at Rhodes college Saturday afternoon, with a hard battle resulting in a final score of 23-4.

Oglethorpe's four goals were made by Taty Harris, Samanda Cox, Kaitlynn Alford and Sydney Trammell. This is Cox's second goal of the season, after scoring in Thursday's game against Warren Wilson. Additionally, goalie Asia Williams made eight saves.

The Petrels struggled in the first quarter, with Rhodes scoring eight times. Alford was able to make Oglethorpe's first goal in the second quarter, but that only seemed to start a Lynx attack. Rhodes continued to score on the Petrels, sending the game to a running clock.

The third quarter began with Rhodes ahead 14-1, as Oglethorpe continued an uphill battle. Rhodes made six more goals in the quarter before Harris and Cox were able to score nearly back-to-back.

Rhodes kicked off the fourth quarter with yet another string of goals, until Trammell interrupted them, scoring with two and a half minutes of the game remaining.

Overall, the Stormy Petrels scooped 13 ground balls, went 11-for-23 on clears, and caused six turnovers.
