Petrels see first draw in deadlock match at LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. - As the Petrels and the Panthers battled for 90 minutes, Oglethorpe saw a final score of 0-0 at LaGrange on Saturday.

During the first half, as Oglethorpe and LaGrange fought for control of the field, both teams took only two shots. The Panthers took their two shots near the beginning of the period, with one saved by the team and one by goalkeeper Haley Lowell. The Petrels took their two shots in the final minutes of the period, with the first from Sarah Berg and the second by Devyn Canty. Both shots were saved by LaGrange goalkeeper Leila Moss. 

The Petrels seemed to be moving toward the upper hand in the second half, taking six shots compared to the Panthers' two. LaGrange's shots came at the beginning and then the end of the period, each saved by Lowell once again. For the Petrels, Canty took the first shot but was wide. Nikki Wells and Safiya Said each took a shot throughout the period, but were unable to make a goal. Kirsten Brown led the Petrels in shots this game, taking three in the second half. Her first was saved by Moss, the second was wide, and the third and final shot of the game - on a free kick with 58 seconds on the clock - was high. 

With this draw, the Petrels are now 2-1-1 for the season so far.
