DANVILLE, Ky.— In their second match of Southern Athletic Association play, the Story Petrels fell three sets to one to the Colonels of Centre College. With Oglethorpe off to a hot start winning the first set, Centre went on to win the next three sets.
Oglethorpe's first set was a promising 25-18 win that gave the Petrels momentum going into the second set. However, the Colonels were ready in the second set and flipped the script as they won 25-18. After a competitive third set that went to Centre 25-20, the Colonels went on to win the fourth and final set 25-12.
Oglethorpe's Jackie Schner continued her reign of kills as this was her ninth match in a row that she totaled double digit kills. She totaled 11 kills and 15 digs. Junior Cate Rosenthal totaled 11 kills as well, while also adding six digs and three block assists. Sofia Cendoya recorded three service aces and 11 digs, while sophomore Gabbi Phillips added four kills, 27 assists, two service aces and eight digs.

Oglethorpe is set to make at pit stop in Sewanee, Tennessee, on its way home to take on the Sewanee Tigers in their first matchup this season. The Petrels face the Tigers at 12 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, before returning home where they will host Birmingham Southern Saturday, Sept. 24.
