Petrels fall to No. 20 Centre in first conference match

DANVILLE, KY. - Despite a fighting effort from the Stormy Petrels in their first Southern Athletic Association game of the season, Oglethorpe fell 3-0 to the No. 20 Centre College Colonels.

The first half proved to be a battle for both teams, with Centre only scoring one goal 35 minutes into the period. Oglethorpe was unable to equalize, but goalkeeper Haley Lowell made three saves.

The Colonels scored their second goal just two minutes into the second half, and then their third and final goal eight minutes later. The Petrels finally found a good scoring opportunity midway through the period, but junior Taylor Whiteside's shot was wide. The Colonels would go on to take six more shots, three of which were saved by Lowell. The Stormy Petrels fought to find another scoring opportunity while sustaining defense, but ultimately fell 3-0 to the Colonels.

Oglethorpe is now 3-2-1 for the season so far, and 0-1 in the SAA.
