Petrels overwhelmed by Tigers in home opener

ATLANTA - In the first home game of the season, the Oglethorpe women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 4-0 loss to Brenau University.

Brenau opened the first period, scoring just 17 seconds into the game. Rattled but determined, Oglethorpe was able to hold off the Tigers until the middle of the period when they scored two more goals minutes apart, setting the Petrels behind. Brenau's final shot of the period was saved by goalie Haley Lowell.

The Petrels were able to keep the Tigers at bay as the second period began, but Brenau ultimately scored after 25 minutes. This was the Tigers' final goal of the game, who took two more shots before the game was over, each saved by Lowell.
