ATLANTA – The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels had a sour start to their final weekend at home, falling 3-0 to the Hendrix Warriors on Saturday.
Cate Rosenthal and Ashlynn Stephens led with nine kills. Sofia Cendoya recorded 14 digs and Briella Koher had 13. Autumn Lilly made 26 assists.
Camdyn George earned the first point of the game after a kill, but Hendrix quickly moved into the lead. Oglethorpe kept fighting, but the Warriors dominated with a 25-18 win. The second set then saw the Petrels quickly gain an 8-3 lead, and Oglethorpe stayed on top or tied for a majority of the set until Hendrix reached set point with Oglethorpe still three points behind. A kill from Rosenthal and an attack error by the Warriors seemed to bridge the gap, but Hendrix was able to gain another point, winning the set 25-23.
The third and final set mirrored the first, with Hendrix overpowering the Petrels. Oglethorpe had a 9-6 lead toward the beginning of the set, but the Warriors claimed a 25-18 win once again.
