ATLANTA—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels brought the thunder, as a little early morning rain could not stop them from a 21-0 victory over the Tigers of Brenau University.
Junior attack Ally Moir could not be stopped as she dropped a season high nine points and tied her career high with five assists. The Florida native's nine-point performance advanced Oglethorpe to 4-0 all-time against the Tigers. The Petrels have now scored 20+ goals in all four of the meetings between the two teams. This is the first time they have held Brenau scoreless.
Kendall White tallied a season high five goals and one assist for six points. Her five goals places her at a team-high 20 goals on the season.
Anna Ramsden opened the scoring for the Petrels. The freshman attack finished with four goals and one assist in the contest. This is the fourth game this season in which she has totaled four goals.
The efforts of Alford and Sydney Trammell were felt on both sides of the ball as the junior midfield duo combined for seven points. Trammell tallied three goals and two assists while forcing one turnover and recorded five draw controls, while Alford followed with two goals of her own, scooped a game-high four ground balls and added four draw controls. Sophomore defender Amber Fuentes recorded her first goal of the 2023 season.
After the win, Oglethorpe climbed to 4-2 on the season. The Petrel offense is now averaging 16.2 goals per game while only allowing 10.5 goals. Oglethorpe is looking to build on this momentum heading into their next match against Calvin University, quickly followed by the first Southern Athletic Association contest of the year at Hendrix College.
