ATLANTA – Oglethorpe's pitching brought the heat on an otherwise cool and windy Friday night at Hermance Stadium. Four Stormy Petrels combined for the second shutout of the season in a 6-0 victory over Wittenberg.
Tate Henderson, Dylan Quintilio, Colin Stewart and Colby James accounted for the shutout. Henderson made the start and went the first three innings. Quintilio picked up the win with a four-inning relief effort. Then, Stewart and James closed the door on the Tigers with an inning apiece to secure the team's second shutout in the last four games.
Quintilio picked up his first win after scattering two hits and a walk while striking out a career high five.
Oglethorpe's stellar defense did not stop at its pitching effort. The team turned two double plays: one on a great play from Carter Guarino in center field to double off a runner looking to advance to third and ultimately preventing a run, and another that ended a scoring threat in the third. In both cases, Oglethorpe led 2-0 with multiple Tiger runners on base.
Justin Pearson put the Petrels on the board with what proved to be the game-winning run in the second inning. It came on an RBI ground ball that scored Drew Jabaley. Moments later, Carson Weir drove in Aiden Hosford with a single to left field.
The game stayed 2-0 in favor of Oglethorpe until the Petrels broke it open in the seventh. This scoring outburst started with Weir scoring on a Nick Tarantino single, then Tarantino scoring on a Jabaley sacrifice fly. Going full circle, Pearson would end Oglethorpe's scoring in the seventh by drawing a bases-loaded walk, scoring Jonathan Cruz.

- Three Petrels were in the multihit column, led by Weir who went 3-for-5.
- Guarino (2-for-5) and Cruz (2-for-4) followed, each tallying a double as one of their two hits.
- The game's six runs came from six Petrels.
