ATLANTA—In the first matchup between the two teams, Oglethorpe squeezed by the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University 11-10. After falling behind 5-2 in the early minutes of the second quarter, seven unanswered goals spanning over the second and entirety of the third quarter helped secure the victory.
The 7-0 Petrel scoring run started off with junior attack Ally Moir. Her unassisted goal was good for her 20th goal of the season. Both Sydney Trammell and Anna Ramsden were responsible for two goals during the seven to nothing scoring run. Ramsden led with a game-high three goals.
Another pair with a pair of goals, midfielders Kaitlynn Alford and Makenna Bowens, recorded two goals. Alford opened up the scoring for the Petrels scoring her 21st goal on the season followed shortly by her 22nd.
With this nonconference win, Oglethorpe moved to 7-2 on the season, and 1-0 in Southern Athletic Association play.
When asked about how the team was feeling heading into their next conference game against Sewanee, Alford said, "We are feeling like we have all the key components to play our game and we are feeling pretty confident. Coming off four straight wins is a good feeling, and we hopefully want to keep that momentum going especially heading into our second SAA contest."
