ATLANTA – In their first Southern Athletic Association game of season, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 12-5 to the Sewanee Tigers.
Four Petrels found their way into the scoring column as Israel Pendleton-Moore led with two goals and one assist, while Jazz Washington recorded one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Addison Irwin recorded 37 saves, five shy of the Oglethorpe record which he owns.
Richard Bedgood IV was the first to score, seemingly giving the Petrels an early advantage. Unfortunately, the Tigers would score two goals in the remainder of the first period, and managed to keep Oglethorpe from scoring. This lead would stand throughout the remainder of the game.
The second and third quarters were grim for Oglethorpe, as Sewanee continued to overwhelm the Petrels. But Oglethorpe did not give up, as Washington was the final scorer of the game. After a long fight, the Stormy Petrels fell 12-5 in their first SAA game.
