DANVILLE, Ky.—After a six-game winning streak stretching back to February, the Petrels lost their first contest in the month of March. In an intense Southern Athletic Association matchup that featured back-and-forth lead changes, Oglethorpe carried a lead all the way into the final five minutes of play before the Colonels of Centre College could squeeze past with a 15-13 loss for the Petrels.
Senior attack Kendall White was dominant on the field, producing five goals on the day. White sits at 34 goals total on the season with three games remaining. Makenna Bowens finished with four points in the contest by way of three goals and one assist. The sophomore has scored 19 of her 25 goals in these last six games.
Anna Ramsden, the freshman midfielder who has scored a goal in every game of her collegiate career, finished with one goal, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Ramsden leads Oglethorpe with 35 goals scored this season.
The remaining four goals accounted for all by the junior class. Kaitlynn Alford finished with two goals and two draw controls, while Ally Moir and Sydney Trammell added one goal each. Trammell recorded a team-high three draw controls.
With Oglethorpe so close to undergoing a perfect month of March, the Petrels look to regroup and focus on what is to come in April, with three SAA games left heading into the SAA postseason tournament. The Petrels moved to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in the SAA.
