BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels have spent the majority of the season at home but headed to Birmingham Southern to continue Southern Athletic Association play Friday evening. Unfortunately, Oglethorpe fell 27-8 to the Panthers.
Five Petrels found their way into the scoring column as Jazz Washington, Israel Pendleton-Moore and Max Brand each recorded two goals. Carsen Van Note scooped 13 ground balls and goalkeeper Addison Irwin recorded 16 saves.
Birmingham Southern overwhelmed the Petrels throughout the game, racking up a three-goal lead before Brand could sink Oglethorpe's first goal. Pendleton-Moore scored Oglethorpe's sole goal in the second period, as the Panthers headed into halftime with a 12-3 lead.
The Petrels continued to fight in the third quarter, but really kicked up the energy in the fourth quarter.
