DEMOREST, Ga.—Carson Weir and Nick Tarantino both posted three hits, and Oglethorpe's baseball team wrapped up the nonconference slate with a 7-3 win at Piedmont on Tuesday.
Tarantino wasted little time in getting the first of his three hits and putting Oglethorpe into the early lead. He singled home Weir with one out in the first, and Matt Huckabee followed with a two-out single scoring Adien Hosford to make it 2-0.
A timely base hit from Piedmont in the third tied the game at 2-2, but Oglethorpe went back out into the lead for good in the fifth. Jonathan Cruz broke the tie with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Weir for his second run of the day, then Ethan Snipes' two-RBI single made it 5-2.
Weir came home to score a third time in the ninth when Tarantino singled him in again, and Oglethorpe rounded out the scoring with a Snipes sacrifice fly that brought home Hosford.
