ATLANTA—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels hosted the Lynx of Rhodes College in their second to last contest of the regular season on Saturday. After a strong first-quarter performance by Rhodes, the Lynx kept momentum on their side winning 20-5.
Oglethorpe's five goals came by way of three Petrels. Juniors Ally Moir and Sydney Trammell recorded an identical two goals and one assist, and freshman Savannah Freeman scored her goal just two seconds before halftime.
Freeman added five ground balls and four draw controls. Sophomore defender Amber Fuentes followed with four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control on the defensive side of the ball.
After this loss, Oglethorpe sits at 10-4 overall on the season and 3-2 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Stormy Petrels are tied for third in current SAA Standings. The Petrels are looking to bounce back into the win column and close the regular season with some momentum next week when they face Berry College.
Up next, the Stormy Petrels' final contest of the regular season is against the Vikings of Berry College. The contest is set for April 11 at 6 p.m. in Rome, Georgia. SAA tournament play begins April 21 with the top two seeds hosting the first two rounds of play.
