LYNCHBURG, Va.—The Oglethorpe men's soccer team saw its three-game unbeaten streak to start the season end Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 loss at Lynchburg.
A match that had plenty of great chances for both sides, Lynchburg took the lead with the eventual winner in the 13th minute. It was Carter Averette making the tally with an assist from Benjamin Velasquez, and the pair connected again early in the second half to round out the scoring in the 51st minute.
These were the second and third goals allowed by the Stormy Petrels this season. Previously, they had posted two shutouts after conceding only one goal in three games.
With the loss, Oglethorpe moved its record to 2-1-1 this season.
