ATLANTA—The unbeaten streak extended to four games for the Oglethorpe women's soccer team with a 1-0 win over LaGrange Tuesday night at home. Harlow Cregar scored the lone goal of the game on a free kick in the 23rd minute to secure the Stormy Petrels' second straight victory.
Oglethorpe improved to 3-1-2 overall, and as the final score indicated, the win required a lot of grit.
Senior goalkeeper Haley Lowell was one such Petrel who rose to the challenge as she helped the Petrels keep their lead by denying a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. It kept the score 1-0, and she would produce a similar effort in the 87th minute when she came up with one of her best saves of the season, parrying a would-be equalizer over the top of the crossbar to keep the score 1-0 once again.
Cregar's first-half goal gave the Petrels all they would need. It was her third goal of the season and came with a well-struck shot into the upper left and past the reach of LaGrange goalkeeper Cassidy Abbott.
