Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Story by Nyle Farooqui

Men’s soccer tops Roanoke for another road win

SALEM, Va.—Nicolas Sciarra and Cristian Medina provided the tallies, and the Oglethorpe men's soccer team earned a 2-1 road win against Roanoke Friday night. The win kept the Stormy Petrels undefeated through three games, all of which have been on the road.

Sciarra scored to give Jon Akin's side the lead in just the fourth minute. Roanoke goalkeeper Denzel Marufu made an initial save on a shot by Medina, but Sciarra was in the right place at the right time to fire in the rebound. It was the freshman's first goal of the season.

The second goal of the night for the Stormy Petrels came in the 32nd minute and put them ahead 2-0. Ben Alram was able to maneuver around the defense and find Medina as he put the ball into the back of the net. This was Medina's first goal of the season and Alram's first assist of the season.

Roanoke would find themselves back in the match after a goal from Lucas Pace in the 83rd minute. However, this did not prevent Oglethorpe from getting what they came for. The men in black and yellow were collectively resilient to make sure that they got their milestone victory, the second win against Roanoke in the last three meetings.
