JACKSON, Miss.—A big third-quarter run gave the Stormy Petrels a fighting chance against the Southern Athletic Association leader, but in the end the Oglethorpe women's basketball team dropped a 66-46 decision to Millsaps Friday night on the road. Sophomore forward Keimarya Rivera led the way with her seventh double-double of the season consisting of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Oglethorpe trailed by as many as 19 points in the third quarter until a 13-0 run highlighted by seven Rivera points helped the Petrels cut the deficit to four. It happened over a four-minute stretch midway through the period, but a 6-0 Millsaps run saw the lead go back to double figures.
Oglethorpe trimmed the deficit back to single digits several times in the fourth quarter, but ultimately an 8-0 Millsaps run put the game away.
