Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Story by Nyle Farooqui

Johnson-Fikula’s second-half goal lifts Petrels over Eagles

ATLANTA- On Tuesday, the Oglethorpe men's soccer program picked up a 1-0 win over Emory in a nonconference match, with Steven Johnson-Fikula scoring the game-winning goal in the 57th minute.

It was the Stormy Petrels' fourth straight win and a rematch of Oglethorpe's 3-3 comeback draw in the Sonny Carter Invitational earlier this season.

The score was even between Oglethorpe and Emory in the first half. However, Johnson-Fikula headed the ball into the back of the net to deliver the game-winner for Jon Akin's side in the 57th minute after a great cross from Nicolas Sciarra. It was Johnson-Fikula's first goal of the season and Sciarra's first assist of the season.

It was a memorable win for Oglethorpe as it was the first time that they won against Emory since 2019. The team battled with grit and determination to get an important three points against their local rivals.
