ATLANTA—A pair of goals from Liam Dueve and Adrian Levy in the first half was enough for the Oglethorpe men's soccer team to come away with a 4-1 victory over Sewanee Saturday night in a Southern Athletic Association matchup. It marked Oglethorpe's fifth straight win, during which time the Stormy Petrels have outscored their opposition 15-3.
Oglethorpe led 2-0 at the half then had a bit of a scare in the second half as Sewanee cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal just 33 seconds in. Daniel Amah and Steele Norton provided the cushion in the second half to help Oglethorpe pull away.
Dueve's goal, his first of the season, opened the scoring in the 16th minute on a turn-around rocket from 25 yards out. Nicolas Sciarra had the assist on a great pass from midfield to find Dueve just outside the penalty area.
Levy doubled the lead in the 37th minute on a similar shot from a similar position on the field, taking a thrown-in from Casey Torres to score his eighth goal of the season.
Daniel Amah made it a 3-1 lead in the 64th minute when he found a loose ball after an Aaron Ibe shot rung the crossbar. Ibe's would-be goal came back into the field of play where Amah was there for the putaway.
Norton's goal rounded out the scoring in the 81st minute, and it came off a generous pass from JP Devine. Devine had a breakaway attempt with only the keeper to beat and laid off a pass at the last moment that allowed Norton to score on an empty net, his first goal of the season.
