CONWAY, Ark.—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels were victorious against Hendrix College while on the road in a 3-0 win Sunday afternoon in a Southern Athletic Association match.
The match began with a pretty close set before the Stormy Petrels managed to pull ahead from the Warriors. When Hendrix started to fight back near the end of the set, Madison Williams got in three kills, among 13 throughout the match, her new season high. The set ended with a service ace from Autumn Lilly, leaving the score at 25-19 giving Oglethorpe the set.
The Stormy Petrels started the second set off with a great start, scoring six points before allowing Hendrix to get one. As the set went on, the gap between Oglethorpe and Hendrix grew, up until a kill from Briella Kohler, winning the Stormy Petrels the set 25-17.
In the third set, Hendrix fought back scoring the first couple points before Oglethorpe swooped in with a kill from Ashlynn Stephens. With Hendrix ahead, the Stormy Petrels had to fight hard to get back on top. When the two were tied near the end of the set Oglethorpe scored four points in a row, winning them the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
Oglethorpe will be on the road next weekend to play Millsaps College in Mississippi. The Petrels will return home on October 23 to go up against Berry College.
