ROME, Ga.- The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels ended the regular season with a 2-2 draw against Berry on Saturday afternoon to finish runner-up in the final Southern Athletic Association standings this season.
The Petrels conceded the first goal early on in the first half after a goal from Addofo El Bey in the second minute. However, Oglethorpe responded 16 minutes later after Ben Alram put a deflected shot into the back of the net. It was the senior's third goal of the season.
As both teams were battling in search of a goal in the second half, Owen VanMarter sent a rocket into the upper left of the net in the 80th minute. It was the junior's first goal of the season and looked to put the Petrels in line for the win. The assist for the goal came from Nicolas Sciarra. It was the senior's fourth assist of the season.
Jon Akin's side thought that they had scored the important game winning goal with just 10 minutes left to play. Just one minute later, Tracy Moon scored the equalizer for Berry.
