Petrels pick up SAA win at home

ATLANTA—The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels took home another win after defeating the Sewanee Tigers 3-1 Sunday afternoon at home.

The first set of the match started out strong for the Stormy Petrels with a four-point run. The set ended with a kill from Ashlynn Stephens, one of eight she would have throughout the match. Oglethorpe won the set 25-11.

The Stormy Petrels started the second set a little rockier. Sewanee snuck in to take the first point. Oglethorpe fought back scoring the next one after a kill from Briella Kohler. They ended the second set 25-19 after an attack error from the Tigers.

The third set was by far the most tense of the four. After Oglethorpe scored the first point, Sewanee took the next four. When Sewanee reached 25, the Stormy Petrels were right behind at 24 and the two teams went point for point until the Tigers pulled ahead winning the set 29-27.

In the fourth set, Oglethorpe rallied to take their win. They started with three kills in a row and three assists from Autumn Lilly who had a total of 39. Oglethorpe made headway on the Tigers and took the victory 25-19.

Oglethorpe will spend the next two weekends away in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. They will return home on October 23 for a match against Berry at 6:30 p.m. at Dorough Field House.
