ATLANTA—Four Petrels were in double figures for scoring, and the Oglethorpe women's basketball team soared past Wesleyan 77-48 Saturday inside Dorough Field House. Keimarya Rivera and Montana Harris led the way with 15 and 14, respectively.
A 24-3 run starting late in the first quarter put the Stormy Petrels ahead by an 18-point margin, and they would lead by 15 or more the rest of the way. Elizabeth Luick started the run with a game-tying three near the four-minute mark, and the Petrels soared into a big lead thanks to scoring from six players in that run.
Malia Melton capped the run with a basket that gave Oglethorpe a 30-12 lead. During the run, the Petrels shot 10-of-16 from the field and held Wesleyan to 1-of-10. The Petrels also forced seven turnovers in that run.
Game Notes
- Rivera and Anna Conza both were one rebound shy of a double-double. Rivera had 15 points and nine rebounds. Conza had 11 points and nine rebounds.
- Harris posted seven rebounds next to her 14 points.
- Melton finished with 12 points and six rebounds with a game-high four assists.
- Oglethorpe kept its all-time perfect record against Wesleyan intact, improving to 24-0 in a series that started in 1992.
