LAGRANGE, Ga.—A strong finish was not enough to overcome a slow start in the Oglethorpe women's basketball team's 89-77 loss at LaGrange on Tuesday. Keimarya Rivera led the Stormy Petrels with her second double-double of the season, posting 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Oglethorpe scored the first points of the game on a 3-pointer from Malia Melton on their first possession of the game, but LaGrange answered back with a 26-10 run to finish the period ahead by 13. Thanks to an 11-0 run to start the second quarter, Oglethorpe trimmed the deficit to five several times prior to the half could get not closer.
Game Notes
- Rivera's second double-double of the season also marked her 18th double-double of her career.
- Anna Conza followed next in the scoring column with a career-high tying 17. She also posted eight rebounds which were two off her career high alongside four steals.
- Melton also hit double figures with 13 points and five rebounds.
- Sheraton Foster returned to action with eight points, and Mia Geveke scored seven.
