Petrels defeat Point for second straight win

ATLANTA – After an evening of excellent defense and cunning offense, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels defeated the Point Skyhawks 12-6.

Israel Pendleton-Moore led with five goals and two assists, followed by Jazz Washington, Quade Bedgood and Robbie Coull each with two goals. Max Brand made two assists while Coull also had an assist and recovered six groundballs. Goalie Xay Duax made 13 saves.

Point was the first to score, but this would be the only time they held the lead. Washington scored first, then Bedgood made the final goal of the slow-moving first quarter. Pendleton-Moore assisted on that goal, then made his own at the start of the second period. Oglethorpe scored twice more in the second quarter, and the Skyhawks were able to squeak in one goal, but the Petrels headed into halftime up 5-2.

Coull and Washington combined for the three goals of the third quarter, with Brand assisting Washington. Coull's second goal was in the final 30 seconds and seemed to be the last one of the period, but the Skyhawks managed to sneak in one of their own in the actual final seconds.

Point then scored the first goal of the final quarter, but Pendleton-Moore went on to score three more goals. Alexander Zaichick scored Oglethorpe's final goal, and Point was able to score twice more, but the Petrels walked away with a 12-6 victory.
