BREVARD, N.C. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels defeated the Brevard Tornados 8-4, with Quade Bedgood recording four goals.
Jazz Washington followed with two goals and one assist, while Israel Pendleton-Moore and Robbie Coull both picked up goals of their own. Hinton Chandler went 12-14 on faceoffs and recovered 10 groundballs while goalkeeper Xay Duax made 13 saves.
The first quarter was slow moving, but Washington was the first to score. Bedgood and Pendleton-Moore quickly followed, leaving the Tornados in the dust. Bedgood snuck in another goal, and after a save by Duax, the Petrels ended the first period up 4-0. Brevard managed two goals in the second quarter, but another goal from Bedgood kept Oglethorpe well out of reach. The Petrels headed into halftime with a sturdy 5-2 lead.
Washington and Coull both scored early in the third period, and the Tornados later managed one goal. Bedgood scored his and Oglethorpe's final goal at the top of the fourth quarter, and the Tornados soon found theirs too. The last 10 minutes of the game saw the Petrels primarily on offense, and ended with an 8-4 win.
