Women's lacrosse picks up home win

ATLANTA – After what seemed like an even match, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels defeated the Redlands Bulldogs 16-12.

Ally Moir led with four goals and one assist while Makenna Bowens, Sydney Trammell and Kaitlynn Alford each made three goals and one assist. Bowens also won seven draw controls, while Trammell won four. Goalkeeper Tori Perez made 13 saves.

Alford was the first to score, but Redlands quickly answered with a goal of their own. The Bulldogs managed to move to a 4-2 lead, and ultimately ended the period ahead 5-4. Bowens immediately tied things up as the second quarter began, but Redlands was unwilling to let go of their lead. The period saw a lot of back-and-forth until late goals from Moir and Amanda Cason pushed Oglethorpe to a 10-8 lead.

The Bulldogs dominated the third quarter and prevented the Petrels from scoring. Heading into the final quarter down 11-10 did not have a lasting effect on Oglethorpe, who only allowed Redlands one goal at the very beginning of the period. The Petrels then scored six more times unanswered, with the final one from Moir ringing in a 16-12 win.
