DANVILLE, Ky.—Freshman Isaiah Pou hit his second home run in the last five games, and the Oglethorpe baseball team took one of two in a doubleheader at Centre on Saturday. Oglethorpe won the first game 6-5 before losing the second 6-3.
Game One | Oglethorpe 6, Centre 5
Pou's two-run homer came in the second inning and gave Oglethorpe a 3-0 lead. Brick Conway added an RBI single in the third to make it 4-0, but Centre stormed back and took the lead with two in the third and one in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
It was 5-4, Centre, when Drew Jabaley came home on a double steal to tie the game in the seventh, then Jabaley had the game-winning RBI with a single to center field in the eighth.
Colin Stewart (2-1) faced the minimum in the last two of his three innings of work to pick up the win. He set Centre down in order in the seventh before picking off a runner he hit in the eighth. Dylan Quintilio worked around a one-out single to pick up the save.
Stewart's final line was three innings, two hits, one run, no walks and one strikeout. Quintilio went one inning with no runs, no walks and one strikeout.
Cooper Krause led Oglethorpe at the dish with a 3-for-5 effort. Pou went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI's.
Game Two | Oglethorpe 3, Centre 6
What Oglethorpe did to Centre early in game one, Centre did to Oglethorpe early in game two. After three innings, the Colonels led 4-0, but this time Oglethorpe's fourth-inning rally came up short. Sam Mills, Pou and Jabaley had RBI at-bats succession with two out, but Oglethorpe trailed 4-3 and could never get any closer.
Colby James pitched a complete game that saw him post six innings of work. He walked four and struck out four, moving to 2-2 on the year.
