Women's lacrosse wins big against Huntingdon

ATLANTA – The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels crushed the Huntingdon Hawks 19-2 as several Stormy Petrels recorded season highs.

Makenna Bowens and Anna Ramsden led with four goals each, a season high for Bowens. Both also made an assist while Ally Moir followed with three of each. Sydney Trammell and Mariah Butler both made two goals and Amber Fuentes recovered five groundballs. Savannah Freeman made her first two assists of the season, and Alli White made her first collegiate goal. 

Trammell was the first to score as the Petrels stormed through the first quarter, racking up 10 unanswered goals. Oglethorpe also dominated the second quarter, heading into halftime up 14-0. 

The majority of the game saw the ball in Oglethorpe's court. Huntingdon was unable to score until the final quarter, managing two goals early in the period. Moir made Oglethorpe's last two goals, securing the 19-2 win.

  • Oglethorpe's record against the Hawks is now 6-3 all-time.
  • Makenna Bowens won seven draw controls.
  • Jessie Gunn won a season high of three draw controls. 
  • Anna Conza won her first collegiate draw control. 
  • Freshman Camryn Fowler made her collegiate debut and recovered a groundball.
  • Ramsden recorded a season number of groundballs.
  • Huntingdon also has a fairly young lacrosse program, beginning in 2013. 
  • There was a 30-minute lightning delay right before the game started.
