ATLANTA, Ga. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels began their 2024 season with a match against Belhaven in Emory's Sonny Carter Invitational, which ended in a 0-0 draw with the Blazers.
Goalkeeper AJ Evans made four saves. Adrian Levy and Steele Norton both took two shots on goal but each was saved by Belhaven. The Blazers totaled four shots on goal compared to Oglethorpe's seven.Â
Levy took the first shot of the game, but it was blocked. Oglethorpe kept possession for a short time at the beginning, but most of the first half was back-and-forth. After the halftime break, the Blazers were able to take more shots before the Petrels could, but all of them were saved by Evans. Ultimately, neither side could score and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Sonny Carter Invitational continues, as the Stormy Petrels take on host Emory Monday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. The first home game will be Friday, Sept. 6, at 5:30 p.m. as Oglethorpe hosts the John P. Salamone Invitational.
