DECATUR, Ga. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels picked up another win at Agnes Scott Sunday evening, defeating the Scotties 1-0.
Mackenzie Jones scored the only goal of the game, thanks to an assist from Lily Burford on a free kick from midfield. Jones gathered it around the top of the 18 and found the back of the net for her third goal of the season.
Oglethorpe's defense kept the Scotties at bay, only allowing them one shot which was saved by goalkeeper Grace Elsevier.
The Petrels immediately dominated the field, with freshman Brooke Brantley taking a shot just 17 seconds into the game. Oglethorpe fired off four more shots before Jones and Burford's partnership, which all happened before the 15th minute. Oglethorpe went right back on the attack, but all shots for the rest of the game were saved or off target.
The Scotties fought for possession throughout the game, but with a scoreless second half thanks to Elsevier, the Stormy Petrels prevailed 1-0.
