ATLANTA—Double-doubles from Sheraton Foster and Keimarya Rivera, featuring career highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds from Foster, led Oglethorpe over Sewanee, 79-56, Sunday afternoon in a Southern Athletic Association game.
The Stormy Petrels used a 20-3 run in the second quarter to go into the lead for good and held that lead by double figures nearly the rest of the way.
Mia Geveke kicked off the run with a 3-pointer near the eight-minute mark of the second period, and Oglethorpe went on to erase a five-point Sewanee lead with Foster, Geveke and Rivera combining for 18 points on that run. Oglethorpe went 6-0f-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from the perimeter during that stretch and led by 12 by the time it ended at the two and a half minute-mark of the first half.
Sewanee trimmed the deficit to as low as nine in the second half after a basket from Faith Humphry inside the two-minute mark of the third quarter, but Oglethorpe answered with a 7-0 run to go back ahead by 16. Oglethorpe then led by doule figures the entire final quarter, going ahead by as many as 24 in the closing minutes.
