Oglethorpe to celebrate NGWSD

ATLANTA – Oglethorpe University and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will celebrate the 2025 National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Sunday, Feb. 2, with a basketball game and several clinics.

The day will begin at 10 a.m. with clinic options presented by each sport available at Oglethorpe. Volleyball, soccer, basketball, tennis and lacrosse each offer their own sessions, but those looking to explore multiple sports may choose an all-encompassing session. The latter will also include track & field and golf. Clinics are open to all ages, as well as teams/groups.

After the clinics, everyone is encouraged to attend the women's basketball game. The Stormy Petrels will take on Hendrix at 12 p.m. in Dorough Field House.

The Women's Sports Foundation was established in 1974 to advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity. Their mission is to enable all girls and women to reach their potential in sports and life. National Girls and Women in Sports Day began in 1987 as a special day in the United States capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite women athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports.
