MEMPHISÂ - Despite Perry Robinson's seventh double-double of the season, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 76-70 to the Rhodes Lynx Friday night on the road.
Robinson put up 26 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Malachi Dooley followed with 17 points and five rebounds while Jackson Kemp and Mason Kemp scored eight points each. Dylan Pumpian had four steals.
"That was the most physical game I can remember in my coaching career," said head coach Philip Ponder. "We didn't handle it well in the first half, but handled it much better in the second. We showed a ton of fight once again battling back from 15 down to take a brief lead, but we didn't make the plays in the last few minutes. I thought we executed our defensive game plan great. We just struggled offensively in the first half."
Dooley hit a 3-pointer to get the game going, and Robinson led the team to a 6-2 lead. However, the Lynx managed to lead most of the period. Rhodes thought they had an easy win, but the Petrels put on the pressure in the final minutes. Dooley and Robinson combined for an 11-0 run to finally regain the lead, capped with a Robinson old-fashioned 3-point play to take the lead, but Rhodes quickly gained it back on the way to the 76-70 win.Â
