ATLANTA—The Oglethorpe women's basketball team opened Southern Athletic Association action Thursday night with a 60-43 loss to Centre.
Briley Elder led the Stormy Petrels with 11 points while Montana Harris scored 10. Six other Petrels were in the scoring column but a huge run from Centre in the third quarter proved to be the difference.
It was a seven-point game at the halftime break before Oglethorpe scored the first five points of the second half to make it 33-31. The game looked to be on its way to a thrilling finish but a 17-0 run over the next six minutes from Centre put the game away.
Game Notes
- After Elder and Harris in the scoring column was Sheraton Foster who scored six alongside six rebounds.
- Keimarya Rivera led the rebounding effort with seven rebounds.
- Harris added five rebounds and three steals.
- Anna Conza had six rebounds.
- The game was originally scheduled for Friday night, but the incoming winter storm forced teams to move the game up one day.
