LIGONIER, Pa.—Top-40 finishes from Barton Abstein and Ryan Dunn helped the No. 3 Oglethorpe men's golf team secure a top-15 finish in another elite field Monday and Tuesday at Laurel Valley Golf Club. The third-ranked Stormy Petrels, competing against seven top-eight teams and numerous other programs in the latest NCAA top-25 poll, wrapped up their fall season at the event.
Abstein and Dunn both posted their best rounds in the middle round of the Tartan Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon. Abstein shot 1 over while Dunn shot 4 over, ultimately leading them to 34th and 40th overall. Jackson Hiller followed in 60th.
Oglethorpe was in the top 10 through the opening day, which featured 36 holes, but slid five spots on Tuesday. The team finished 15 strokes off the top 10 and 18 strokes out of the top seven.
