Men’s soccer drops road game to Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn.—Sebastian Lewis finished the night with nine saves, but the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels could not get the victory away from home versus the tough Sewanee Tigers Friday night in Southern Athletic Association action.

An early save for Lewis in the fourth minute was a reflection of the offensive tone set by the Tigers early on. This proved true with a goal scored early on by the Tigers in the sixth minute, putting the score at 1-0. Three more saves from Lewis allowed for the score to remain where it was despite the offensive pressure he and the rest of the Stormy Petrels back field faced.

Anthony Rouse brought the offensive firepower for the Petrels in the beginning of the second half with a strong shot in the 54th minute in the bottom left but could not equalize the score. Shortly after, the Tigers had their own power that they capitalized on to score a second goal in the 58th minute. Sewanee rounded out its scoring in the 84th minute via a penalty kick increasing the score to 3-0. The Petrels were stuck trying to increase the score but were hindered by the clock and could not find the win.

Lewis tallied nine saves, a career high.
