DANVILLE, Ky.—Despite an early goal from Christian Watson, the Oglethorpe men's soccer team fell to the Centre Colonels 4-1 Sunday in the last match of the two-game road trip.
The Petrels set the tone for the game early with the offense in their hands. In the 22nd minute, Daniel Gardner found Christian Watson for a goal to put the Petrels on the board 1-0. Three minutes later, the Colonels returned the fire with a strong shot, but it was no match for goalkeeper Sebastian Lewis. However, the momentum then shifted with the Colonels as they capitalized on an opportunity to score an equalizing goal in the 34th minute. The first half finished 1-1 and Lewis tallied three saves.
The second half switched momentum entirely with three back-to-back goals from Centre in the 47th, 58th and the 51st minutes. The Petrels did not back down, as Jackson Briggs, Anthony Rouse, Lashawn Brown and Angelo Nkosi took strong shots, but each missed, sending the Petrels to their second straight loss.
