DOUGLASVILLE, Ga.—Led by sixth-place finishes by both Ryan Dunn and Jackson Hiller, the No. 3 Oglethorpe men's golf team continued its strong start to the season with a fourth-place finish at the West Pines Collegiate Tuesday at West Pines Golf Club. The Stormy Petrels, who shared the runner-up spot after Monday's two rounds, finished one stroke out of third and five strokes out of second.
Dunn and Hiller were one stroke away from making the all-tournament team, splitting a five-way share of sixth place. Dunn, who shot a 3 under 68 on Monday's second round, was in the hunt for medalist honors in fourth place after the first day. His middle round helped Oglethorpe surge into second with a 1 under team score, their best round of the event.
Barton Abstein (T26), Corbin Scott (T34) and Diego Passos (T73) rounded out the Oglethorpe lineup. Abstein and Scott also both contributed to the Petrels' climb in the middle round by shooting even par and 1 over, respectively. Passos' best round came in round one as he shot two over.
Thomas Reininger (T16), Ethan Breth (T41), Ryan Callaham (T62) and Chris Forsythe (T94) represented Oglethorpe's B team. Reininger had the third-best round on Tuesday, shooting 2 under which helped him finish 4 over for the 54-hole event. Callaham also closed strong with a 2 over on Tuesday, and Breth posted his best round Monday afternoon with an even par.
Tournament Notes
- Oglethorpe led the field in pars with 176 and ranked eighth in birdies with 35.
- Oglethorpe ranked in the top five for par 3, par 4 and par 5 scoring. Oglethorpe's B team finished eighth on par 4 scoring.
- Hiller ranked eighth on par 4 scoring at 1 over. Passos finished tied for second on par 5 scoring at 5 under.
- Breth led the field in pars with 40 while Hiller ranked third with 38.
- This marked the third straight season the Stormy Petrels hosted the West Pines event. They took the team and individual trophies each of the last two years.

Oglethorpe heads to Ligonier, Pennsylvania, for the Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon next Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 13-14. It will be the final event of the fall season for the Stormy Petrel A team.
