Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Story by Abby Wheeler

Petrels snap back to close tournament with a huge 70-44 win

ATLANTA- Anna Conza's second high scoring game in a row led the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels to a huge 70-44 victory over Kalamazoo College Thursday afternoon.

Conza tallied 18 points, four rebounds, and a 3-4 effort from the 3-point line. Keimarya Rivera followed behind with 15 points, 6 rebounds and two steals in just 17 minutes of action. Sheraton Foster picked up seven points of her own but was a leader on defense with five steals.

The Petrels started the game hot with a huge 17-3 lead made possible by three 3-pointers from Conza and clean layups from Malia Melton. Rivera tipped in a pull-up jumper followed by a fastbreak layup from Foster that only increased the score to a bigger lead for the Petrels. Abby Scott drained a three with 20 seconds left in the first half to put the Petrels ahead 50-14. This 36-point lead set the tone early for the game and once established, Oglethorpe never looked back.

A good layup by Rivera assisted by Conza started out the second half. Jaden Winfrey tallied a 3-pointer of her own along with perfect free throws from Ashton Jones. At the end of the fourth quarter, Kalamazoo seemed to pick up their pace but could not close the gap, ending the game 70-44.
