DEMOREST, Ga. - Despite a stellar debut from sophomore Michael Fox, Oglethorpe fell 19-11 to the Piedmont Lions on Saturday.
Fox scored five goals and made one assist in his debut as a Stormy Petrel. Noah Stroud followed with three goals, then Lima Miller with two. Joshua Tamarkin made four assists. Goalkeeper Xay Duax made 16 saves.
The Lions dominated the first quarter, with Fox's goal their only challenge. Miller and Fox combined in the second quarter to shrink Piedmont's lead, but the Petrels still trailed 17-4 at halftime.
Piedmont lost some of their momentum by the third quarter, as Israel Pendleton-Moore and Stroud combined for three goals against the Lions' two. Oglethorpe made four unanswered goals in the final quarter, all from Fox and Stroud. However, this late rally was not enough and the Petrels fell 19-11.
