Oglethorpe overwhelms Pfieffer

ATLANTA – The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels defeated the Pfieffer Falcons in a monstrous 22-1 win on Saturday. Makenna Bowens, Anna Ramsden and Ellis Mitchum led with four goals each, Bowens tallying six points.

Bowens also added three ground balls and Mitchum won four draw controls. Camryn Fowler followed with career highs of three goals and four draw controls. Savannah Freeman, Jersey Cuni and Bowens each caused two turnovers from the Falcons. Freeman, Bowens, Mariah Butler and Amber Fuentes all made two assists.

Bowens won the game's first draw control then quickly passed to Butler, who scored after less than 30 seconds of gameplay. Mitchum repeated that strategy at the next draw control to help Bowens to score her first goal.

Ramsden and Cuni quickly followed with goals of their own, all with no answer from the Falcons. Sarah Liang nabbed the first free-position goal, and Oglethorpe kept their feet on the gas. Mitchum, Fowler, Bowens and Ramsden all added to the 10-0 lead.

Now at a running clock for the second quarter, the Petrels added three more goals thanks to Ramsden, Mitchum and Freeman. Pfieffer, feeling the pressure, finally found their footing and was able to score a goal.

Scoring slowed in the third quarter, with the Petrels reaching goal number 16. Oglethorpe put their foot back on the gas in the final quarter, and Liang scored the final goal of the 22-1 win.
