SEWANEE, Tenn. - Oglethorpe's season came to a close as Southern Athletic Association front-runner Sewanee triumphed 16-12. Despite the loss, the Stormy Petrels put up great numbers against the Tigers.
Senior Makenna Bowens led with four goals, followed by Anna Conza with a career high of three goals and one assist. Savannah Freeman won a career high nine draw controls, Mariah Butler made two assists, and Amber Fuentes had a career high six ground balls. Goalie Tori Perez made seven saves. Perez, Conza and Camryn Fowler had three caused turnovers each.
Bowens scored the first goal of the game, which was quickly answered by the Tigers. Sewanee held a 2-1 lead for a few minutes, but Anna Ramsden and Fowler put Oglethorpe back in the lead. Sewanee scored once more in the final seconds, then found a major run at the top of the second quarter. This streak would later be revealed as the game's deciding moment, but the Petrels stayed on Sewanee's back.Â
Bowens, Ramsden and Conza scored the final goals of the game, a rally that came just minutes too late. Oglethorpe fell 16-12 to the undefeated Sewanee Tigers, ending the 2025 season.
