Pou’s homer lifts Petrels past Panthers

ATLANTA—Four runs in the third inning and three in the fourth capped by Isaiah Pou's ninth home run of the season sent Oglethorpe to an 11-6 victory over LaGrange Tuesday night in a nonconference tilt at Hermance Stadium. The Stormy Petrels trailed 6-0 until taking the lead on Pou's two-run homer in the fourth.

It looked bleak in the early going as LaGrange pushed runs across in each of the first three innings, including four runs in the second on the way to a 6-0 lead. Oglethorpe, however, quickly surged back, beginning with four runs in the third to make it a 6-4 ballgame.

Nick Tarantino had an RBI double, Ryan Causey an RBI single, Aiden Hosford an RBI walk, and Brick Conway an RBI groundout in the frame. An inning later, Trey Kinnan grounded out to score Jaxson Corr, then Pou followed moments later with the homer that would change a 6-5 deficit into a 7-6 lead.

Oglethorpe kept LaGrange scoreless to lead the rest of the way.

Corr singled home Conway in the next inning to make it 8-6, then Kinnan scored on an error and Causey singled home Matt Huckabee in the sixth to round out the scoring.

Konner Burrell, Hayden Partian and Tate Henderson pitched dominating efforts, keeping LaGrange scoreless over the last five innings. They combined to allow only two hits and one walk.
