ATLANTA—After a tough loss in game one, the Oglethorpe baseball team battled back to defeat Sewanee and even the series after a split doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Hermance Stadium. Oglethorpe lost 10-0 in game one before winning game two 11-8.
The Stormy Petrels, after being shut out in game one for the first time this season, responded in a big way in game two but still needed a little late-inning magic to secure the win.
Trey Kinnan came home to score in the first inning for the game's first run, then Nick Tarantino followed with a two-run homer as Oglethorpe went ahead 4-0. Sewanee then chipped away at that lead before ultimately claiming it with runs across the second, third and fourth.
It was 8-4 at the halfway point of the game before Oglethorpe put up three runs in the  bottom of the fourth and one run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. Causey had a two-run double in the fourth, Tarantino an RBI groundout, then Jaxson Corr leveled things in the fifth with a single to left-center field, just over the reach of Sewanee shortstop Zach Fortman.
One inning later, Oglethorpe surged into the lead for good with three runs on four hits. Jonathan Cruz came home to score the go-ahead run after walking and stealing second, then Causey drove in Kinnan, and Ethan Snipes drove in Brennan Boone.
